Course Description

Public Speaking is a class designed to teach students the skills and techniques necessary to effectively command the attention of an audience, whether a room full of familiar faces or a crowd of complete strangers. The art of entertaining, persuading, and/or informing with clarity and confidence will be explored and practiced via participation in a variety of amusing games, engaging activities, and purposeful lessons. Students will discover the seven elements of public speaking (the speaker, the message, the channel, the listener, the feedback, the interference, and the situation) and become more critical thinkers in the process. By fine-tuning verbal (and nonverbal) communication skills, students can say goodbye to public speaking anxiety!
