CS301: Intro to Java (CSA Prep)
Course Description
We help students to master college-level material by offering full range of AP preparation for Computer Science.
This series of courses, CS301-CS304, will cover all the topics required for the AP Computer Science curriculum.
CS301 will cover:
Foundations and CSA Readiness
Purpose: Introduces Java syntax and problem-solving habits so students enter CSA-ready for tracing, methods, strings, classes, and collection processing.
Key student outcomes
Write and run short Java console programs from scratch.
Use variables, expressions, conditionals, and loops correctly.
Create methods with parameters, return values, and clear contracts.
Use strings, simple classes, arrays, ArrayList, and intro 2D arrays safely.
Trace code by hand and debug syntax, runtime, and logic errors.
Units and topics
1. Java setup and program structure
main method, output, comments, syntax rules, formatting
2. Variables and expressions
data types, assignment, arithmetic, tracing state changes
3. Conditionals and boolean logic
if/else, comparisons, logical operators, nested decisions
4. Loops and repetition patterns
while, for, accumulators, nested loops, off-by-one errors

This course is approved by College Board. It will allow you to take the Advanced Placement® Test.
